Is a Living Will necessary if you already have a Will?

Will and Testament  is made for purpose of arrangement of assets after the death, which may cover distribution of assets, appointment of executor, guardianship of minor (in case no other administrator remaining), important aspects of the Will i.e.

1. The WIll only effective after the death, so there is nothing to do with the Will while the testator still alive

2. The Will usually manage the asset

3. The Will does not cover issue about medical treatment.

Living Will is made for purpose of instruction of your intention about method of medical treatment at the stage that you are no longer conscious and medical treatment no longer heals. Living Will states your intention whether accept the designated medical treatment or not, important aspects of the Living Will i.e.

1. Living Will effective while you are still alive

2. Living Will does not manage any assets

3. Living Will only manage the method of medical treatment at final stage of life.

We, therefore, recommend you to have both Will and Living Will as they are for different purpose.
